Raspberry Suite Colour Challenge #21

Hi There

Hope everybody is enjoying their day so far! I have now officially not left the house for a whole week, can you believe it! My daughters school is closed and the roads are like ice rinks around here. Last night I was watching the news and they are calling it the "BIG FREEZE" There has not been weather here like this for decades. It is normal to have maybe 2 or 3 days of snow a year! Lets just hope this passes really soon.

Back to to today's card. It's for the Raspberry Suite Colour Challenge #21

 

The colours are yummy! Brown is always a winner with me. I have noticed lots of stripes around recently in cards and fashion, so last night I thought it would be fun to have a go. I used the text style 2 set from Papertrey Ink and stamped that on various papers to make stripes. As it's valentines day soon, I decided to try a card for my Husband Kris. I don't know about you, but I find it really tough to make cards for men. So I'm pleased this colour combi came along to help out with some inspiration. 

 
 
 

I use a lot of die cuts for framing usually, so with this card I just cut out a plain strip and then added some lines with markers to edge.

Pearls and Christmas

Hi There!

I am still on my mission of Christmas card making. So I have continued my Christmas theme with this card for the Raspberry Suite Challenge 20#

 

I am totally in love with the PTI Tree Trio Stamp Set. I love this tree especially, It's really vintage. I decided to use a few pearls, which sort of gives the effect of snow. I exchanged the baubles for Stars to give a different effect and added a Pearls to the centre.

 
 

It's starting the get really frosty around here. I am wondering, if it will snow this year!! Its not a regular thing these days. When it snows all the kids in our cul-de-sac, come out and sleigh down the hill. Our holidays start on 18th December next week can't wait !!

Kindred Spirits

Hi There

I remember when I first looked at this picture of the T- shirt, I instantly saw the flowers. They reminded me of the flowers in the Garden of Life PTI set.

I loved the post about Nicole's visit and the great friendship which has evolved. I couldn't resist adding a little quote from Ann of Green gables. My mum and I spent many a Sunday watching this on video's. 

 

I used this sketch from 2 Sketches 4 You. This is Kazan's Sketch!!

I love Lavender, however it would not be my first choice of colour to use in a card. So that's why this challenge has been good for me and made me get out of my comfort zone. My first thought was to attach the flowers to the flourish. But then I came across this fantastic paper by making memories Called Funky Vintage.

Life has thrown another tough week at me. My Little Max was admitted to hospital on Monday Night with breathing problems. Last night I came home with my Daughter, it's tough trying to do the right thing. But I felt that she needed me last night and my mum stayed with Max and he's fine.

When Gabrielle went to bed, I managed to fit in a little me time. I had started to make card pieces on Monday and thought it would be a real shame not to finish it. I find a card is great for taking your mind off things!!

Floral Fusion

Hi There

I was so pleased yesterday to see that there was a new Raspberry Suite Challenge 19 #. I was especially pleased as I have just received my PTI October supplies. I didn't get around to doing my christmas cards yesterday. It's all about getting your priorities right LOL!! But I will put on my to do list for this week.

The colours are really vibrant, so I wanted to reflect this in my card. I used Giga Guide Lines with Brown ink on a Moss background. The large sentiments are great in this set. 

 

I had a sheet of borders by Basic Grey and cut out the Aqua and Brown lace design Scallop. Then layered that onto a Raspberry scallop. As the ribbon has a lot of holes, I used the Making Memories slot punch and threaded it through the Brown scallop to ensure it was flat.

Just arrived back from a wonderful week in wales with my family. My husband Kris, Daughter Gabrielle and my son Max. 

Once we had all settled in, I checked up on my favourite blogs and founds I had missed the submission date for this Rasberry Suite challenge by Dawn Mcvey. I loved the colours so much that I decided to make a card anyway. 

A few weeks ago I purchased a  my first die cut machine the Sizzix Bigshot. At the same time a brought a few dies which I liked. I have been far too busy with the school holidays to try them out and thought this would be a great opportunity. I am really happy with the results.

 

I rounded the corners of the card base and the Yellow patterned paper. I matted the yellow patterned paper to the cardbase. I then embossed the brown card stock and rounded the top corners. I cut the edges of the Ivory and Brown cardstock with decorative scissors and added the sentiment. I then adhered to the brown card and added the ribbon. I cut two scalloped circles with my die machine and adhered with foam pads and added felt heart to the centre of the smaller circle. I then added three decorative buttons and adhered to card base.

I am happy to be making cards again after a week off. I also received my first order from papertrey ink today!!! 

I am a very happy lady. I can't wait to get stuck into some stamping later.
